Association

The Förderverein historischer Verkaufspavillon e.V. was founded in September 2015 by the former operator of the kiosk, Jürgen Rausch, and a few friends to promote the reconstruction of the Bundesbüdchen. The plan was to rebuild the pavilion within sight of the old location on the corner of Heussallee. It was clear that the pavilion would have to be extensively restored and renovated in accordance with the requirements for listed buildings.

This is what the historic Bundesbüdchen looked like in the building yard – a sad sight. But it was soon to be awakened from its slumber. The Friends’ Association was the client for the project and, following a transfer by Jürgen Rausch, now also owns the Bundesbüdchen. Following its restoration, the historic sales pavilion is now leased to the Peter Mauel bakery.

Architect Christof Pfeifer from Bonn supports the association. He coordinated the necessary authorisations in accordance with building law and monument protection regulations and managed construction planning and supervision until the historic sales pavilion was rebuilt.

Old becomes new – Bundesbüdchen in a new guise

Despite all the adversity, stumbling blocks and obstacles, the Förderverein historischer Verkaufspavillon e.V. has succeeded: the Bundesbüdchen has been shining in new splendour since 21 August 2020. The association was supported by funding from the German government, the German Foundation for Monument Protection, the North Rhine-Westphalia Foundation, the City of Bonn and private sponsors.
